If/when your title is canceled in the Lightning Source system, your title is no longer available to print, and Lightning Source will not fulfill any new orders from the moment the title is canceled.
However, some retailers may purchase and stock copies of a title and continue to show availability as long as they have available inventory to sell. For this reason, removing or "de-listing" a title (or a previous version of that title) from an online retailer's website can be difficult. Even if the retailer sells out of the inventory, the title may continue to be listed on their website, permanently. In the case of an online retailer such as Amazon.com, which allows third-party sellers to set up virtual "stores" on the Amazon site, this is nearly impossible. These sellers may have new or used copies of the book and will show availability as long as they have inventory.
Once the on-hand inventory of a title is depleted, at the retailer level, the title should then appear as "title unavailable" on their website. If there is a new version of the same title, this new version should generate the first "hit" in the title search within that website. However, any used copies for the original version of that title may continue to show as available for purchase through third-party sellers on Amazon.
